. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

1.Is it possible to work with True Type and Open Fonts in Type3 CAA V5 Based?
Yes, Type3 CAAV5 Based allows all True Type and Open Fonts installed and all Vision numeric fonts, which are single line fonts.

2. Can I work with Asian TrueType fonts (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, ...)?
Yes, you can work with Asian TTF. Type3 CAAV5 Based also allows the use of Arabic, Russian, etc... As long as you install CATIA on any non US or European Windows environment, you can retrieve the “exotic” Windows Fonts and work with them.

3. When I create texts or logos, what kind of entity do I get in CATIA V5?
You get curves in CATIA. You can re-edit them at any time.

4. How do I import BMP files in Type3 CAA V5 Based?
The process is easy: just click on the Vectorize Icon in the Type3 toolbar and the “Vectorization” menu appears. To import a BMP file, click on the Open file Icon and then select the Bitmap file in the data folder.

5. What are the “Vectorization parameters” used during the vectorization process?
Allowance, noise and spot filtering or smoothing are a few of the parameters used during the vectorization process. All these parameters enable the optimization of the retrieved model contours in CATIA V5 and are especially useful in case of a low quality scan or image.

6. What do “projection” and “mapping” mean?

  • A projection will project contours on a surface in Z direction. The X and Y coordinates will remain unchanged.
  • A mapping is a winding of a curve on a surface in all directions. The surface could be a sculptured one.

7. What are the most common client applications for projected/mapped text and logos?
Application of text/numbers onto parts, identification with a logo, decoration with an artistic text or a graphic model or customization with a watermark are the most common client applications for projected/mapped text and logos.

8. What can I do with the Type3 “Copy/Paste” functions for CATIA?
These functions allow data transfer between CATIA V5 and Type3, with a total respect of the geometric drawings. They provide the user with all graphic 2D and 3D artistic capabilities of Type3 (NURBS curves, NURBS surfaces, TypeArt, dial/ruler, free text, etc.).

9. How do I transfer special effects from Type3 to CATIA V5?
Thanks to the Type3 Gateway CAA V5 Based copy/paste functions, all the 3D CAD special effects like textures, bas-reliefs, etc, can be transferred from Type3 to CATIA V5.
